Prosperity Lost, Regained

The Wa-Hi boys basketball team proved during its Big Nine district tournament game in Moses Lake Friday night that those who have difficulty handling prosperity don’t always lose.
Wa-Hi blew an eight-point, fourth-quarter lead and appeared to be destined for overtime when the Chiefs banked in a game-tying, 3-point shot with seven seconds left in the fourth quarter.
But after a timeout, the Blue Devils’ Nick Peasley dribbled through a maze of players, went around a pick at the top of the key, and drained a jumper as time expired to give Wa-Hi a 56-54, loser-out victory.
The Blue Devil win also proved that regular-season results do not always matter when the postseason begins. Moses Lake defeated Wa-Hi twice during the regular campaign.
For the Blue Devils, the playoff ride continues. For the Chiefs, the ride has ended.
