What a tremendous Rose Bowl game!
The Oregon Ducks and Wisconsin Badgers treated college football fans to an outstanding contest.
Back and forth they went. Moving the ball at will. Scoring at will, especially in the opening half.
Ironically, it was the defenses that stepped up in the second half of this wild game and slowed the scoring pace a bit – though the teams combined for a Rose Bowl-record 83 points when it was all said and done.
The end of the game had me flashing back to the 1998 Rose Bowl, when Washington State was unable to kill the clock with a spike in its gallant attempt to upset eventual national champion Michigan.
Wisconsin was in a similar situation and, like WSU, was unable to spike the ball before time expired.
And, like Michigan, Oregon breathed a huge sigh of relief.
