It really would be interesting to see how Carlos' traffic compares--wouldn't it be something if you beat out both of the heavyweight contenders?!?

The UB would have to generate a lot more content unavailable elseware to have registration viable. Unfortunately this would require adding to the news room and that wont happen. Second, who would want to advertise in such a smaller market?
Newspapers are failing because they are trying to make the internet fit them.

The internet thrives on freedom and advertising.

Oh, and another thing (haven't looked to see if this is already feasible): email news alerts based on keywords and phrases (and maybe category) would be nice. Example: I want to immediately know whether [keyphrase "Blue Mountain Plaza LLC"] got the financing required to continue mall construction before the deadline, which, by the time anyone reads this, is today. You know... since UB hasn't reported on that yet... (ahem)...

Oh, and yet another thing: can you add those handy thumbs-up/thumbs-down ratings for articles to help guide UB on what (at least the online readers) like or dislike about what UB reports? Live online polls are fairly useless, but I feel better when I can say WooHoo or meh... UB, on the other hand, could occasionally get some useful reader preference data.

Finally, another thing: Please include a category that excludes national and world news. The rest of the Internet already have that pretty well covered.

btw, thanks for asking; I'll shut up now:)

GregH: Dude, they already offer the entire newspaper online; you can subscribe to the E-edition for a huge discount of 75 cents a month compared to having it delivered;) Or you can get both. Or various options... And you have to register an account and login to read it. The reader is simple and does not require downloaded software. Pretty cool.

So what I'd like to see is a deeper discount for the online subscription, since it doesn't require the delivery overhead. I don't pay for the paper version, but I would pay a reasonable rate for the online version! 50% seems reasonable...
