Were you at the WWVA-Asotin game last night? If so, wasn't that a great ball game?
Because of the issues you raised in your e-mail, the WWVA game last night was moved to 6:30 from 5 p.m.
Thank you for your comments.

I really hope WWVA makes it to State, however...Today Northwest Yeshiva (I think that's their name) forfeited their 1B consolation game rather than play on their holy day.

I don't really think WWVA will make it to the semi-finals, but what if they do??? Those are Friday night. The bad thing is that if THEY would forfeit their game; it, to me would give an advantage to the victor in the Championship Game. Whaddaya think??

I'm glad someone is somewhat pleased that W-P won. I graduated from WHS in the early 1960s. Then as now, primarily, the gilded lillies are Wa-Hi, and DeSales. I am not Anti-DeSales. Everytime they have played in the Tacoma Dome, I've gone the 30 miles up the road to cheer them on.

But this year, we have a huge article on Pat Graham, the prodigal son, coming back to coach the Irish again. And then we had a big article on a single DeSales player a while back. I do believe that W-P might have some noteworthy athletes too. Oh yeah, you all are advertising a Wa-Hi and DeSales Football Yearbook, and on it goes. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there were a lot of totally PeeOwed Irish parents, and students when Pat Graham, the heir apparent, split for Redmond after just one season the last time)

I would be totally ecstatic if W-P made it over here to play in either the semis or the title game. Most of the time the Eastsiders get to shiver for two hours or so in the Tri-Cities, while the westerners get their semis in the relatively climate controlled Tacoma Dome. If W-P doesn't make it, then Asotin would be my second choice. My gut feeling, unfortunately is that Asotin has a really nasty running game, and W-P better be at 100% when they play them.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words.

Why is it when Waitsburg-Prescott beats the Irish it " One for the ages"? When Desales beats W-P its just another win?

The good feelings from Friday night's game are felt throughout our small community, and having that recognized by a UB writer is icing on the cake! Thank you, Mr. Elia!

I am pleased to hear that Mike Cummins has found his way home. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't read this in the newsprint U-B. If it was never there, that is a shame. Mike was an important part of the Walla Walla sports community for six years and I believe it would have been a welcome and appropriate story in the home-delivered and newsstand version of the U-B sports section.

I think the U-B has too much faith in their website. There is good content here, but they are not driving anyone to it and much is being missed. I read and enjoy your blog Roy, as well as some of the others on the U-B website, but if a sampling of my circle of friends and neighbors is any indication...most people are not.
