The Gold Standard

Tom’s Chevron pitcher Isaiah Standard turned in a performance Wednesday night that will go down as one of the all-time best in the 35-year history of the Walla Walla City Little League baseball tournament.
Standard blanked Cox Jones on two hits and struck out 17 in a 10-0 Tom’s Chevron victory that earned the team its first City title since 2003.
The lone blemishes on Standard’s record were a two-out single by Noah Porter in the third inning and a one-out knock in the sixth off the bat of Dillon Courson.
Perhaps Tom’s manager Rod Fazzari stated it best: “He was the gold standard.”
