Tom Izzo is one of college basketball’s best coaches.
He has guided the Michigan State men’s program to the NCAA Final Four six times in the last 12 seasons including the one just past.
He will now have the opportunity of build on that record of success after turning down a reported five-year, $30 million offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Izzo cited returning players and conversations with former Michigan State stars, “Magic” Johnson among them, as reasons for staying in East Lansing.
That, coupled with the uncertainty of LeBron James’ future in Cleveland, tells me that Izzo made the right decision.
Make no mistake about it: This is great for college basketball and Michigan State University.
