Housekeeping for guys
So I’m preparing to take a couple days off and, of course, people want to know what I’m going to do.
Well, I say, actually nothing. I have to take the days off due to our “use it or lose it” vacation policy, so I thought I would just hang out. Oh, and maybe do a little house cleaning.
“Oh, you’ve GOT to write about this!” a colleague said.
So, OK, single guys actually do housework now and again. It’s the way we do it that is the key.
(1) We’re not fanatics about dusting, mopping and vacuuming. Why? Well whatever gets removed is just going to reappear again anyway. So don’t overexert yourself, there’s no point.
(2) If you can’t see it, it’s not there. This instantly removes large chunks of any room from requiring attention.
(3) Finally, you don’t want to disturb the cats too much. OK, I realize this doesn’t work if you don’t have cats. But if you don’t, then get a dog. They are even happier with less-than-fanatic housekeeping.
So you see? It’s simple. Now excuse me, I’ve got do get busy.
